Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information LaunchGuide collects across URL scanning, findings, GitHub connections, agents, MCP, planning features, billing, and free tools — and the choices you have.

Last updated: July 31, 2026 · Effective: July 31, 2026

1. Who we are

LaunchGuide ("LaunchGuide," "we," "us," or "our") operates the websites launchguide.dev and app.launchguide.dev, along with related free tools and the LaunchGuide product.

LaunchGuide is the maintenance layer for AI-built apps: URL scanning, audit agents, findings, and fix prompts for AI coding agents. Planning features (docs and build workflow) remain available as a secondary product.

For privacy requests, contact privacy@launchguide.dev. Our Terms of Service govern use of the services and are incorporated by reference where relevant.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you:

  • Visit or browse launchguide.dev or app.launchguide.dev
  • Create an account or sign in to the LaunchGuide app
  • Submit a URL for scanning or review findings / fix prompts
  • Connect a GitHub (or other) repository via our App or OAuth flow
  • Use audit agents, inbox, or MCP features
  • Use planning features (clarify, docs, build workflow)
  • Subscribe, start a trial, or manage billing
  • Use free tools that ask for an email address
  • Contact support or otherwise communicate with us

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

Depending on how you use LaunchGuide, you may provide:

  • Account details such as name and email address
  • Authentication credentials or OAuth sign-in information
  • URLs and related scan targets you submit
  • Repository connection authorizations and metadata needed to run agents
  • Billing-related details needed for checkout (processed by Polar; we do not store full payment card numbers)
  • Product ideas, project inputs, clarifications, and other content you enter into planning or free tools
  • Support messages and feedback
  • Email addresses submitted to unlock free tools on the marketing site

3.2 Information from scans, agents, and GitHub

To provide the maintenance product we may process:

  • HTTP responses, headers, and publicly reachable content retrieved during a URL scan
  • Finding records, severity labels, and generated fix prompts associated with your account
  • Repository metadata, file contents, or diffs you authorize us to access via the GitHub App (or similar)
  • Agent run logs needed to deliver and debug scheduled audits
  • MCP token identifiers and usage signals tied to your account (not shared as secrets in marketing analytics)

3.3 Information collected automatically

When you use our sites or app, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information (for example IP address, user agent, OS, and approximate location derived from IP)
  • Usage data (pages viewed, features used, referral source, timestamps, and performance metrics)
  • Product analytics events (for example scan started, finding opened, plan upgraded)
  • Diagnostic and error data needed to keep the service reliable
  • Rate-limit and abuse-prevention signals (including IP and, for free tools, email)

3.4 Local storage

On launchguide.dev free tools, we may store your email in browser local storage for a limited period so you do not have to re-enter it on every tool. The app may use sessionStorage for pending scan URLs across auth. You can clear site data in your browser.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the LaunchGuide website, app, scans, agents, and free tools
  • Create and manage accounts, sessions, entitlements, and access controls
  • Store and display findings, generate fix prompts, and support re-checks
  • Run connected-repo agents within the permissions you grant
  • Process subscriptions, trials, credits, invoices, and customer portal access via Polar
  • Generate planning documentation and prompts using AI providers where you use those features
  • Send transactional messages (account, billing, security, and product notices)
  • Send optional product or marketing emails where permitted; you can unsubscribe at any time
  • Measure usage, diagnose issues, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

5. AI processing

To generate findings summaries, fix prompts, planning documentation, and free-tool results, we may send relevant inputs (and necessary context) to third-party AI model providers via infrastructure such as OpenRouter. Those providers process content to return model outputs.

Do not submit secrets, passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, health data, or other highly sensitive personal data into prompts, scans of private surfaces you control poorly, or free tools. You are responsible for the content you submit and the targets you authorize.

AI outputs and automated findings may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review all generated content before relying on it for business, legal, or technical decisions.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run LaunchGuide, including with:

6.1 Service providers / processors

  • Neon — authentication and database hosting
  • Polar — payment processing, subscriptions, and customer billing portal (Polar may act as merchant of record)
  • GitHub — when you connect a repository via the GitHub App or OAuth
  • OpenRouter and underlying model providers — AI generation
  • Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, Workers, and related infrastructure (including storage used for free-tool leads and rate limits)
  • Resend — transactional and tool-related email delivery
  • Sentry — error monitoring and performance diagnostics
  • PostHog — product analytics and usage insights
  • Microsoft Clarity — session replays, heatmaps, and behavioral analytics

These providers are authorized to process data only to perform services for us and are subject to contractual or comparable confidentiality and security obligations.

6.2 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, necessary to protect rights, safety, or security, or needed to investigate fraud or Terms violations.

6.3 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will take reasonable steps to continue protecting your information consistent with this policy.

7. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

We use essential and functional technologies to operate the service, including:

  • Session and authentication storage needed to keep you signed in
  • Pending scan URL storage across authentication
  • Local storage for free-tool email convenience
  • Security, rate-limiting, and abuse-prevention mechanisms
  • Analytics and diagnostics tools that may use cookies or similar identifiers

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies or storage may prevent login or other core features from working.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to:

  • Provide the services and maintain your account
  • Retain scan history, findings, and agent logs needed for the product
  • Satisfy legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements
  • Detect and prevent abuse
  • Support backups and disaster recovery for a limited period

Free-tool lead records, project content, findings, billing records, and logs may have different retention periods based on operational need. When retention is no longer required, we delete or anonymize information where reasonably practicable. Disconnecting GitHub stops new repo access; residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Please use a strong unique password, protect credentials and MCP tokens, and notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorized access to your account.

10. International transfers

LaunchGuide is operated with infrastructure and vendors that may process data in the United States and other countries. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take steps intended to provide an appropriate level of protection consistent with applicable law.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

11.1 Account and marketing controls

  • Update account profile details in the app where available
  • Disconnect GitHub or revoke App permissions in GitHub settings
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through the billing portal / account settings
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails
  • Clear free-tool local storage via your browser

11.2 Privacy requests

Email privacy@launchguide.dev with the subject "Privacy Request." We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Some requests may be limited where we must retain data for legal or legitimate operational reasons.

12. Children's privacy

LaunchGuide is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. Third-party links and services

Our sites and app may link to third-party websites or services (including AI coding agents, GitHub, payment pages, and social profiles). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example by email or in-product notice). Continued use of the services after the effective date means you acknowledge the updated policy.
